Postpartum ice packs reduce swelling and soothe sore and tender areas — helping you feel more comfortable in the days after childbirth, so you can enjoy time with your newborn!

Even after a vaginal birth without tears, the entire perineal area and rectum will be swollen, and you'll likely feel discomfort in the area for around three to five weeks. After pushing baby, no matter how long for, you will be a bit swollen. If you need any stitches or have torn, chances are you will be a bit sore and experience perineum discomfort for even longer. When frozen, the perineal ice pack provides soothing, cooling relief to the perineal area which may be irritated, swollen and tender from childbirth. The perineal ice pack can also be used to give instant relief from vaginal irritations and inflamed haemorrhoids, or to treat Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD).

When the perineum gel pad is heated, it can be also used while in the second stage of labour to reduce perineal tears when pressed against the perineal area (ask your medical team).

Each pack contains one perineum heat/ice pack and 5 x disposable sleeves.

How to Use?

For cold therapy: Place in freezer for approximately 2 hours or submerge in icy water until the desired temperature is achieved.

For hot therapy: Submerge in hot water or microwave for the suggested times (20 seconds for a 700 watt microwave, 15 seconds for a 1000 watt microwave or 10 seconds for a 1200 watt microwave). Heat in additional 5 second increments until the desired temperature is achieved.

Then slip pack into a sleeve and apply for the medically recommended time of 20 minutes. Wait until skin returns to normal temperature before reapplying.

To clean: Wash with warm, soapy water.

Do not ingest or insert pad into the body. Do not use on infants. Use on children only under adult supervision. Avoid use on highly sensitive skin. Do not use on open wounds. Overheating may damage or destroy gel bead pads. Discard if damaged. Test gel bead temperature prior to use.
